So my son's preschool has a big "pink day" celebration complete with a parade and balloon release. I really wanted him to wear something pink besides just a ribbon which he would probably rip off within minutes. After searching stores and online, I came up with this idea that cost me less than $5.
I bought a plain black t-shirt from Walmart which was $3.88. Then I using my computer's basic paint program, I made a background that I then printed onto iron on transfers which I bought from Michaels (10 pages were $9.99, but I had a coupon for 40% off on my phone). Then I cut it to the shape and size I wanted, ironed it according to the instructions and I was done. Took me about 10 minutes! It could not have been easier.

The cheapest Halloween decoration EVER!
For $1.50, I made this candy corn H that is 13 inches tall and 10 inches wide.
What you need:
1. A large cardboard box or multiple small ones. We always seem to have empty diaper boxes, but I happened to have a larger box from a recent purchase of a guinea pig cage.
2. A piece of ribbon to use as a hanger (mine is about 15 inches long)
3. A hot glue gun and glue sticks
4. Black tape (I used black duct tape)
5. About 7oz of candy corn (I bought a generic bag of 14 oz for $1.50 from Food Lion and have close to half left after eating some)
6. A box cutter, knife or some thing sharp for cutting through 6 layers of cardboard
7. Clear coat spray paint
8. About 2 hours (might take you less if you have a better cutting tool than me, the cutting was the hardest)
Step 1: Cut up the box so you have 6 equal size pieces of cardboard.
Step 2: Hot glue each layer to itself. you don't need a lot of glue, just enough to keep it steady while cutting. You will be taping it later, so don't worry about it falling apart when you are finished.

Step 4: Secure the ribbon hanger and wrap the entire letter in the black tape. For the ribbon, I glued it first to the cardboard then wrapped the tape around the tops of the H to double secure it for hanging.

Step 5: Using the hot glue gun I glued one row of candy corn at a time, starting at the top and working my way down. The glory of this, if the edges aren't perfect it doesn't matter because the candy corn can hang over and you can't tell at all where the edges aren't perfect.
Step 6: Spray the clear coat protector over the entire surface. I used a Krylon satin finish clear coat.
The inspiration for this hanging came from this picture and my desire to do it cheaper than the cost of a wreath. Our last name is Harding so I thought this was too cute and totally worth the $1.50.

Step 3: Draw your letter and cut it out. I used a ruler and made it the exact width of the ruler. For cutting I started with a box knife, but after breaking the blade 6 times, I grabbed a kitchen bread knife which worked much easier, but made a gigantic mess.
Step 4: Secure the ribbon hanger and wrap the entire letter in the black tape. For the ribbon, I glued it first to the cardboard then wrapped the tape around the tops of the H to double secure it for hanging.

The creation of MyTy Studio
MyTy Studio was the result of my love for ribbons and my daughter, Macy's love to accessorize. MyTy was actually a nickname for my son, Tyler. So while the things I make are definitely geared towards girls, he has not been left out in my latest venture. In July, I became a stay at home mom and noticed that over the years I had acquired an obscene amount of ribbons so with my husband's unending amount of support and internet assistance we create the MyTy Studio, hair accessories and more store. I have always wanted to work with a charity, so I decided that I would donate 20% of every item sold to a charity. Every item is thoroughly tested by my 5 year old daughter who thinks her bows are also toys, so I know before we sell them that they will last anything they experience.
